Early Head Start: Decades of Empowering Families

As we mark the 60th anniversary of the KAC, we reflect with pride on the journey that has brought us to this significant milestone. At the heart of our celebration lies the enduring impact of one of our flagship programs: EHS became an integral part of our center’s mission in 2000, marking a new chapter in our commitment to serving our community’s families.

EHS was established as a pioneering federally funded initiative aimed at providing comprehensive assistance to families during the crucial early years of child development. Our commitment to this mission is unwavering, and over the past decades, we have witnessed the profound impact of EHS on the lives of countless families in our community.

Central to the success of the EHS program at the KAC is our dedication to weekly home visits. Each family enrolled in EHS receives personalized attention from our compassionate team, ensuring that they receive the support they need to thrive. These visits, lasting a minimum of 90 minutes, are structured to cater to both children and parents alike.

For children, these visits are an opportunity for engaging in stimulating activities that foster their cognitive, social, and emotional development. From interactive games to age-appropriate learning experiences, every interaction is carefully designed to nurture each child’s unique potential.

Equally vital are the parent-focused sessions during these visits. Here, our team collaborates with parents to establish goals and develop plans for their family’s future. From discussing child development milestones to facilitating access to community resources, we empower parents with the knowledge and tools they need to support their children’s growth effectively.

At its core, EHS embodies a shared mission: to strengthen families. By investing in the early years and providing comprehensive support, we believe we can make a lasting difference in the lives of both children and parents. Through EHS, we strive to create a nurturing environment where every family feels supported, valued, and empowered to thrive.

As we celebrate six decades of service to our community, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the families who have entrusted us with their children’s early years. Together, we look forward to continuing this journey of growth, learning, and empowerment for many more years to come. Thank you for being an integral part of the KAC family.
