Specialized Transportation Services

KAC provides a variety of highly accessible, specialized transportation services that keep residents rolling and achieving in the Kenosha County area.

Providing paratransit services for passengers with a condition or disability. Assisting wheelchair passengers with boarding and disembarking. Coordinating charter service to sporting events, summer camps and special occasions. Removing transportation barriers for those seeking employment.

KAC Route Service

Curbside, lift-equipped service is available to KAC participants living in Kenosha County.  This specialized transportation service provides a vital link to vocational and developmental opportunities for KAC participants.

Care-A-Van

Care-A-Van is Kenosha Area Transit’s Paratransit Service, operated by KAC. This door-to-door service is available for certified riders with a condition or disability that prevents them from using Kenosha Area Transit fixed-route buses.

Reservations:
Required at least a day in advance. Please call (262) 658-9093.

Fare:
$4 one way
$1 senior dining rides
$40 punch cards (10 rides + 1 FREE ride)
Please have the exact fare, change cannot be given.

Guests:
You may have a guest join you on your trip. Please let the scheduler know that you have a guest when you call to schedule the ride. Guest fares are $4 each way.

Personal Care Attendants:
Approved personal care attendants may travel at no charge. You must indicate you require assistance from an attendant when you apply for para-transit services.

All of Kenosha County East of I-94

Service Hours:
Monday through Friday: 5:00 am – 12:30 am
Saturday: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Sunday: Service is limited to trips within 3/4 of a mile of the streetcar line, during streetcar service hours.

Reservation Hours:
A scheduler is available Monday through Friday 6:30 am to 5:30 pm. After hours your reservation requests will be recorded on our voice messaging system. A scheduler will return your call confirming your trip.

Certification:

Rider certification is conducted by Kenosha Area Transit. You must complete an application and have your physician certify the information. Download the application HERE. The application process enables us to understand your functional ability to use transit. You may use Care-A-Van for two round-trips prior to returning a completed application.

Once Kenosha Area Transit receives your completed application, you will be notified of a decision by mail within 21 days, and you can begin scheduling trips. Incomplete applications can significantly delay the review process, and must be completed before additional rides are scheduled.

LINK-Western Kenosha Transportation

Kenosha County contracts with KAC to provide LINK-Western Kenosha Transportation services. LINK is a refresh of Western Kenosha County Transit. New look – same great service!

Passenger assistance with boarding and disembarking is available upon request. All vehicles are equipped with wheelchair lifts. Fare:
$5 one-way for the general public
$3 one-way for older adults and persons with disabilities.
To qualify for reduced fare, please complete and submit this form, including proper identification.

Service Area:
LINK services are available to the public with a service area concentrated in Kenosha County, west of I-94. Service is provided to connect rural Kenosha County to Kenosha, Lake Geneva, and Antioch, Illinois.

Service Hours:
Monday through Friday: 6:00 am – 6:30 pm
Service is not available on all major holidays.

Employment Transportation Assistance

KAC believes that work is essential to a meaningful life. Through our Employment Transportation Assistance programs, we strive to ensure people of all abilities are able to overcome transportation issues and maintain their employment.

Consultations

Consultation & assistance from a Mobility Manager to problem solve transportation related issues.

Wisconsin Employment Transportation Assistance Program (WETAP)
Through the Wisconsin Employment Transportation Assistance Program (WETAP) KAC provides a variety of mobility services to help ease transportation barriers to employment.  People with an income 150% of poverty and below, who are employed or participating in a vocational assistance program may be eligible for financial assistance to repair a vehicle used to maintain employment.

Great Lakes Naval Training Center Shuttle Services
Specialized, accessible shuttle services are available for disabled workers employed at Great Lakes Naval Training Center.
