Early Head Start Opens Enrollment, Helps Children and Families Meet Milestones
August 20, 2020 (Kenosha, WI.) – Kenosha Achievement Center (KAC), empowering individuals of all abilities, opens enrollment for the Early Head Start program (EHS), which provides families with children aged zero to three years old with the resources needed to succeed together. Services facilitate child development and promote self-sufficiency. Eligible families can enroll today to begin receiving support.

Each and every baby born in Wisconsin represents infinite potential. In the first three years, a child’s brain grows faster than at any later point in life, forming more than a million connections each second that lay the foundation for all later development and learning. EHS helps to maximize a child’s full potential and build a strong foundation for school readiness.
“Due to COVID-19 our services are looking a little different right now, however, our Early Head Start team is still dedicated to providing families in the Kenosha community with resources to help them learn, grow and succeed
together,” says Jill Sorensen, early childhood program supervisor at KAC. “Our families’ safety is our priority, which is why we are offering to meet clients wherever they feel most comfortable — at the park, outdoors or in their homes. Services remain just as extensive as ever before with a supportive network of resources to help every family reach their goals.”
Early Head Start is a federally funded program that provides comprehensive services to under resourced infants, toddlers and their families, as well as pregnant women across the United States. Kenosha Achievement Center tailors the program to offer high-quality home visiting services to meet the direct needs of local children and families. EHS serves roughly 140 families annually who reside within the Kenosha Unified School District boundaries. On top of home visiting services, in order to address and prevent additional risks, KAC’s Early Head Start program provides a full range of services to enrolled children and families, including health and mental health, nutrition, and family support services.

KAC considers the health and safety of its community, employees, participants and their families a priority. In regards to the COVID-19 pandemic, KAC remains open and is continuing to provide essential services. This includes operating Care-a-Van Transportation Services, offering virtual home visits and therapy sessions, resuming in-person services at limited capacity and more. Kenosha Achievement Center looks forward to returning its services to normal operations as soon as it is safe to do so.
