Community Cares Packages from Kenosha Achievement Center Bring a Piece of Kenosha to 400 Individuals
April 23, 2020 (Kenosha, WI.) – Kenosha Achievement Center (KAC), empowering individuals of all abilities, is preparing to deliver roughly 400 care packages to the families and clients they serve. The nonprofit’s goal goes beyond just providing people with items that bring joy. It is also an effort to safely bring the community together, connect with each other and enjoy local businesses.
Last year, at the onset of COVID-19 quarantine, KAC’s team delivered care packages to all of their program participants as they stayed safer at home. While some parts of everyday life have returned to normal since then, necessary health precautions are still keeping many people isolated.
Until everyone can enjoy the community together and in-person, KAC is partnering with some local businesses to bring a piece of the community to each of their program participants. KAC Community Cares Packages will include fun items (fitness gear, music equipment, art supplies and more!) that can be used to participate in virtual activities led by their partners: Burn Boot Camp, Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, Hot Mess Studios, LLC., The Happiest Space and Racine Zoo.
“All of us at KAC are hopeful that it won’t be long until we can safely spend time with all of our friends out in the community,” says Chris Weyker, chief executive officer at KAC. “While we wait for those days to come, we want to stay connected and spread love and hope as much as we can. Each of us has the power to make that difference. Our KAC Community CARES Packages represent how important the significance of a strong, supportive community truly is. Even though some things might still be different, what is clear now more than ever is that we are always stronger when we stand together.”
Individuals can join in on KAC’s Community Cares Package initiative through monetary contributions. Donations will directly support the supplies and resources needed to prepare and deliver care packages to the individuals KAC serves.

KAC considers the health and safety of its community, employees, participants and their families a priority. In regards to the COVID-19 pandemic, KAC remains open and continues to provide essential services. This includes operating Specialized Transportation Services, offering virtual home visits and therapy sessions for infants and toddlers, providing employment support and programs for adults with disabilities in small groups and virtually, and more. Kenosha Achievement Center looks forward to resuming its services to normal operations as soon as it is safe to do so.
